Rachel Whetten joined Carolina Partners in 2018. She received her BA in cultural anthropology from the State University of New York at New Paltz, and received her MPH and MSW from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Rachel is a licensed clinical social worker who brings clinical experience in working with blended families, couples, and persons who are experiencing intense emotional dysregulation. Rachel is an LGBTQI+ therapist, seeking to engage clients in a variety of relational concerns. She believes in establishing a partnership between client and therapist, in order to invite active engagement and creative problem-solving from her clients. Using both psychodynamic and behavioral approaches, Rachel works closely with her clients to explore their histories of attachment, and how those histories inform their present relationships. Rachel is intensively trained in DBT and Family-Centered Treatment, and completed training in EMDR. Her therapy with couples is informed by Gottman and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT).
