   Cogmed at the Neuropsychiatric Clinic

Our Cogmed Program works to improve memory by using computerized testing and cognitive exercies. These tools are designed by neuroscientiests who specialize in working memory and attention difficulties. By using evidence-based Cogmed training, your working memory and cognitive performance will improve.

How does it work? Who is it for?
The Cogmed Working Memory Training typically spans over a 5 week period. The training is aimed at those who wish to improve their ability to concentrate and are constrained by their working memory. Clients range from young kids to senior adults. Some may have received attention deficit diagnoses, some may have suffered a brain injury, some feel aging effects, and others find they might not be doing as well as they feel they could. Every person's needs are unique and we strive to satisfy those needs.

The patient's first visit will be with Dr. Sandeep Vaishnavi, MD, PhD and Matthew Wolf, MSW, LCSW lasting approximately 1 hour. The following sessions will take place at home, 5 days a week, from their personal computer. Daily sessions last approximately 30 minutes. Mr. Wolf will have weekly check-ins with all patients. The patient will then return to the clinic after all sessions are completed for a final review.

Research shows that 80% of users see measurable improvements. Research also shows that the training results last. This is because once working memory capacity increases, you naturally continue to use it at its new level.

How does Cogmed differ from Lumosity?
Cogmed is not only top-of-the-line and very personalized, but all patients have the added benefit of working with a coach and Dr. Vaishnavi directly. In particular, Cogmed can be very beneficial for patients with ADHD and traumatic brain injuries. Above all 80% of individuals with attention and working memory problems who complete Cogmed training will experience meaningful benefits.

How do I sign up? How much does it cost?
Though Cogmed training is not covered by insurance at the moment, Carolina Partners offers interest-free payment plans. We work to negotiate a plan that fits your needs. To sign-up or find out more information, call Robyn Gaylor at 919-792-3940.
